Sam Friend is a composer, vocalist, and guitarist. He founded Sam Friend and the Hoodoo Sauce in New York City in 2011, performing regularly in Manhattan before they recorded their first EP at the legendary Jungle City Studios. Sam co-founded the New Orleans Swamp Donkeys in 2012 and toured internationally with the band for several years, while also making a viral video with over one million hits, with their version of the Game of Thrones theme song.

Friend's original music has been featured on NCIS, CBS, VanityFair.com, National Public Radio, and elsewhere-- he has headlined New York's Blue Note, B.B. Kings, Ginny's at the Red Rooster, London's Ronnie Scott's, and a variety of jazz festivals all over the globe.

Sam's new album of original music, Twin, recorded at the Parlor Recording Studio in New Orleans in March and May of 2016, was released in December of 2016.

Sam Friend is like Ry Cooder by way of Charlie Christian with a soupcon of Dock Boggs, Louis Jordan, Jeff Buckley and Son House. Like a young Dylan, he’s making something entirely new out of what came before.”
